April has arrived, and sadly, this is my last blog post of the semester. The past few weeks have flown by and it honestly feels like March didn’t even happen this year. In the next two weeks, Spring 2021 will be over, the summer will fly by, and I will be graduating from Florida State University, which I cannot even begin to comprehend. Life seems to be on the run (pun intended) and in the next two weeks, a lot of meaningful things will end, one of those being my internship at Girls on the Run.
I feel like I began interning for GOTRBB a week ago, so the fact that my time with them is finishing, blows my mind. It has been an eventful semester, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time learning about the organization that is Girls on the Run. The after-school programs have officially begun in schools all over the Panhandle and the wonderful coaches at GOTRBB have made it their mission to empower as many girls as they can. The Virtual 5K has also begun and, in true pandemic fashion, you can jog, walk, skip, or run the 5K from your very own living room.
Since my time is coming to an end as in intern, I wanted to thank my amazing colleagues at Girls on the Run, and especially Jennifer Powell and Colleen McMahon. The work that they do, and that all of GOTRBB does, is so inspiring and I am so thrilled to watch them continue to grow and improve. It has been an honor to serve an organization with the mission that GOTR has and I will forever adore and respect the lessons I have learned from being an intern. Girls on the Run of the Big Bend, this is not a goodbye, but a see you later… (and a happy finals week to my fellow college students!)
Until next time,
Shannyn Reigle
